“Success is simple to do. It’s also simple not to do” – Jim Rohn
Hi, everybody. I’m Steve Burnett with DYB Coach.
One of the clients I had the privilege of painting for had a very nice home in Boca Grande, Florida.
This is a very beautiful and exclusive community where families like the Duponts and Bushes vacation.
One day, my client Ira, said to me, “Steve, you should put your picture on your business card.”
I paused for a moment and asked, “Really?”
Ira just looked at me and let it sink in.

See, Ira had made his money in print and marketing.
I smiled and said, “Okay, thank you.”
After I had the new cards made, I dropped them off to the paint store to hang up on their contractor board along with the 100 others.
I received a call a few days later for an estimate.
I drove out to the estimate, measured it up, presented my proposal on the spot, and she accepted it. I left with the job scheduled and deposit in hand.
Then I asked her, as should you after every awarded job, “You could have went with another company, why did you choose us?”
She shared that she stopped by the paint store to get the names of some paint companies on her way home from just receiving shoulder surgery.
Upon arriving home, she sat them on the stand next to her chair and just left them there.
She went to bed that evening, but in the middle of the night her shoulder was bothering her so she got up, went out to her living room, and sat in her chair.
As she was sitting, she looked down at the stand and noticed my card, amongst the others.
She said she grabbed it because it landed with my picture facing up and thought to herself, “If he’s willing to put his picture on his card, he must be trustworthy.”
Now get this, she didn’t even call any of the other companies.
Thank you Ira for that and many more sales afterward.
If you’re like me, you might have some negative self talk to work through.
“Others will think I’m being conceited.”
No, not unless you have a conceited personality. Your reputation will precede you.
“Isn’t this what realtors do?”
YES! And you should too!
I still do today and so do many DYB Members.
