The Importance & Benefits of Exercise

Hi, Ron here from DYB coach.

In business, we think about net profit, we talk about hiring all the time, and then everything else –including getting up early and doing jam sessions, and all of that is super important.

What I realized in the last couple weeks was, I used to be in fairly decent shape, I used to run in marathons, up the mountains and all that fun stuff that when you see other people do, you think they are crazy –it was pretty awesome.

Lately, however, I have fallen out of exercise and I realize I am a little sluggish every morning.

You get up a little late, and it is not just clicking, and I realize what I missed the most important thing –exercise.

If you have ever seen me walk, you can only imagine how I get out there and run, (if you call it a run), I stumble and I do everything else, but I feel so much better when it’s actually over.

I have a running partner, her name is Maya, and she is an 8-year old dog –she puts up with me, and tows me along sometimes.

Whether it’s biking, hiking or running, 3 or 4 times a week, do it –you will love, even get addicted to it.

You can also give ‘Couch to 5K’ a try, it’s a great app out there, it’s free, it will get you from the couch to actually running 5 miles.

There many free exercise apps out there, I challenge you to give them a try.

I am now doing an unofficial “couch to 5K” I would love to get out there and just be able to go and run 3 to 5 miles on a whim, it is not always fun, but I’ll tell you, when you finish, after you can catch your breath, you feel amazing.

We talk about business all the time and how important everything is, tracking your job cost, and all these are super important, but if you don’t have the health, none of that really matters.

So, if you can squeeze that in before work, maybe getting up a half an hour early for a treadmill, a run, or a quick trip to the gym.

If you have read or listened to any of these really motivational people, the people who have really succeeded out there, what do they do in the morning?

They might meditate, or read a little bit, but they all exercise.

I have had many health scares, and some would stop you in your tracks, sometimes it happens and you can’t do anything, it is out of your hands.

But we can prevent some things -let’s take care of our health so that we can be around to spend some of this money we’re making.
I hope this helps!

About the Author

As many of you know, my journey has been one of grit, grace, and transformation. At 19, I was a high school dropout, single father, and struggling paint contractor in Michigan. I later moved to Florida, where I faced both personal and professional hardships. With nothing left to lose, I turned to prayer—and was blessed with a relentless hunger to learn. I devoured books, attended seminars, and discovered better ways to streamline and grow my business—even through the Great Recession (and yes, I did hit the wife lottery along the way!). In 2014, I published How To Double Your Business and later sold the painting business, launching a new chapter: coaching others to grow their businesses. For the past 10 years, I’ve dedicated myself to helping business owners scale through the DYB System, while also drawing from frameworks like EOS, Scaling Up, and The Four Disciplines of Execution. Yet something was still missing—something more adaptive, integrated, and complete. Then I found Pinnacle. After months of research and interviews with other Guides, I joined Pinnacle. Their tools and strategies have exceeded every expectation. Now, as a Pinnacle Business Guide, I help leadership teams implement a custom-tailored operating system that draws from the best in the industry—but flexes with your unique business. It’s a dynamic, proven approach to achieve clarity, momentum, and lasting growth. I’m no longer taking on any more 1:1 coaching clients… Instead, I now specialize in working with visionary business owners who are ready to get their leadership teams aligned—around a clear vision, a focused strategy, and an actionable execution plan. With the tools and process I now have as a Pinnacle Business Guide, I help turn alignment into momentum, and momentum into results. If your business is growing—but your leadership team isn’t fully rowing in the same direction—let’s talk.
