Hi, I am Rob Youness, owner of Great Lakes 1-800 Painting. Here is my story.

 

I began painting on the weekends with my Uncle Mike’s company at the ripe age of 15. I painted with him for almost ten years. After picking up side job after side job through friends and family, I decided to start my own business in 2007.

 

From 2007 until 2011 I was on the job. Like any new company, it was up and down. Feast or Famine. I thought many times about moving on to a new career.

 

And then, in 2012, an opportunity of a lifetime slapped me in the face. I had the opportunity to buy Hilgendorf Painting a very well respected residential company in my hometown with a track record that exceeded 20 years in business. I accepted the challenge.

 

Great Lakes Painting went from about $150,000 in revenue to $350,000 in just one year. Even with the growth.

 

The Problem: I was still just an average painter. I was working in my business and not on my business. I didn’t have a clue how to make my business profitable with professional branding.

 

That is when in 2014 I was introduced to Steve Burnett through his YouTube videos, the Ask Steve B Show. He has forever changed the way I run my business.

 

I signed up as a member in the community and Steve sent me a free copy of his book. The past two years, our team has implemented his systems and process.

 

 

I can honestly say that with the help of Steve Burnett, April Burnett and the entire DYB COMMUNITY I am working a 30 hour work week and we have doubled our business since starting our membership in 2014.

As many of you know, my journey has been one of grit, grace, and transformation. At 19, I was a high school dropout, single father, and struggling paint contractor in Michigan.
